I'm trying something different here.

I like straightforward editing without lots of fancy effects, so when I actually start to edit a video it goes very quickly. I usually start each film with an idea of what I want to create. That idea spurs me into playing more to gather footage. Unfortunately, the original idea and motive usually gets lost. The footage I collect dictates what type of video I will create.

Different songs create different timing and order, even when using the same batch of clips. I've actually usually gone through multiple drafts of each of my videos. The footage I ended up using for "Dr. Pyro" was actually used first in a totally complete video set to "Supermassive Black Hole" by Muse. I just wasn't happy with it, scrapped it, and redid it. Unfortunately, I've never kept my alternate versions once I've uploaded a completed one.

This time however, I'm going to try to show my process a little. This version of "Reflections" was not my original intent. I ended up with enough footage to make a video however and did this one as a first crack at it. I plan on going back and reworking everything to a different song, but I thought it might be interesting to have a record of this first take. I have no time frame in mind for when I'll put out an alternate version. It's very possible that this will be the take I end up most pleased with and would have released regardless. We'll see.

Until then I hope you enjoy this first effort!

  • How do you deal with other pyros? I mean, we almost always see you with Flamethrower/Degreaser, Flare Gun, and Axetinguisher.

  • @tmujir955 You learn through context cues how damaged they are and how much damage you can afford to take. Flame them or let your teammates take care of them, then be sure to extinguish your buddies. Most pyros still aren't that good and will still run into your flamethrower as you backpedal. Good pyros generally just airblast eachother and back off as its usually a lose-lose battle.

  • Hey Huey, I'm curious if you find yourself running into any problems with the axtinguisher? Seems to have a rare chance of not sinking in and critting.

  • @nhcrank It does do that relatively often for me. I think its because my home network gets very heavy use, as I have a few issues with other hit detections as well. It has lead to me being less willing to use any kind of melee.

  • I forgot to comment on this when I first saw it:

    This is beautiful.

  • Im suppose to be a sniper player until pyro airblast my rocket to the knee

  • YOU DO NOT SHOOT ROCKET AT PYRO

    PYRO SHOOT ROCKET AT YOU

  • 2 questions:

How can i predict when to reflect the huntsman?(i can perfectly reflect rockets by using sound of when they exit the launcher but i can't do that with the huntsman cause of it's velocity)

Any ways to get an upper hand in a pyro vs pyro situation if you go heads on one on another?

PS. I usually try to lover their health a bit before we go in melee range and comence the mindless m1 spam at eachother since you can't reflect(except flares),cant puff 'n' sting and can't rely on afterburn

  • @psbain Thank you for the reply.

  • The freecam is oddly calming.

  • That... was beautiful.

And the sniper bit at the start was hilarious.
