During training one of the last obstacles that a Naval Aviator has to hurdle is the night carrier landing, this video shows a Night FCLP, where the runway has lights that lightup to make the runway seem to be the same size has an aircraft carrier. As you will see Navy Pilots land in pitch black conditions and this video attempts to show just how scary these things are. Just as a side note pilots never land with night vision goggles on so it is just as dark to the pilot as it is to us.

  • They have to rely entirely on their instruments (follow the glideslope). As long as they keep the same attitude, same speed/power with a few MINOR adjustments on final... and that they catch the meatball... they're golden. Oh yeah.. always afterburners once you hit the deck.

  • Damn! Awesome video, thanks!
