  • I agree 100%. A week after this was posted I was walking at night & hit by a car. Fractured skull, cracked vertebrae and 2 weeks in ICU. Wasn't texting, just walking and I'm always wary. The guy turned into me (from behind) and was most likely looking down the one way street watching for oncoming cars and not looking for pedestrians. I was lucky. I'll also be even more wary in the future.

  • i hate it when ppl text and walk at the same time, nevermind them being pedestrians.

  • most canadians i know are sad and sorry

  • But we like being sorry.

  • @stubs13 I think mass is a determinant in an equation of acting forces. A) Mass of the person is needed for force exerted by object A. B) Mass of car is needed to calculate force of car. And then you see who is left standing...

  • I think this is a great rant! Rick is merely helping us ALL (drivers & pedestrians) to be more aware for the sake of everyone's safety.

Boy, who knew Canadians could be so negative...

  • All you need to do is add flashing yellow warning lights to your blackberry helmet.

  • SO much going on in the country right now that was just begging for his sharp comment - & he picks pedestrians in Toronto! Wow. The writers must've been off with the flu this week. Disappoint.

  • Mass determines inertia, not weight i.e. pounds; Rick is science illiterate.

  • Why is it that the onus is on the pedestrian, and why do drivers seem to get priority here? Drivers could take a lot more responsibility for their driving habits too. Rick didn't mention whether the pedestrians were at a crosswalk or not, which would be a key point to factor in. This rant sounded a lot like blaming the victim to me.
