ICAN works on both the grass-roots public level as well as politically to establish a Nuclear Weapons Convention (NWC) - a Treaty to outlaw the use or threat of use of nukes, as well as verifiable steps to do so.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon reaffirmed his position that nuclear states should "consider negotiating a NWC, backed by a strong system of verification, as has long been proposed at the United Nations. I have circulated to all UN member states a draft of such a convention."

Which proves my point. It WOULD be the right thing to do, get rid of all nuclear weapons... Polititians aren't known for clear judgement... hint hint. I have had a recurrent nightmare about a nuclear fallout. I see a blinding light, and I can't find my daughter, when I find her, her eyes are white, I ask her, can you see? Why can't you see? I totally support this movement. I agree that it's naive to expect politicians to abandon nuclear weapons without any political pressure. But it is civilians that would suffer from nuclear warfare, and it is civilians, not politicians, that must unite and change this dreadful situation.

I agree Nukes are horrible but I think they are a neccassary evil. Nuclear weapons were the reason why we didnt loose 2 million men invading japan home islands and millions more japan civillians. Also Nuclear weapons prevented the superpowers in the cold war from ever going to war. With out nukes we may have lost millions in Ww3 with Russia. Maybe one day we wont need nukes(I hope)...But I think we have a better chance of finding santa in the north pole.

We are the majority who demand all nuclear weapons be eliminated from our planet.

We have accepted the delaying and denying of politicians and generals for decades, and have lost faith in our own ability to determine our political fate.

I ask everyone to regain that democratic faith- consider the sadomasochism of nuclear weapons, and help eliminate them, by campaigning against them on local and national levels, and by inviting your friends& workmates to show democracy with rallies and petitions.
