The daughter of Sixties pop star John Phillips of The Mamas & The Papas, Mackenzie Phillips made her big-screen breakthrough at the age of 12, when she was cast in the hit film American Graffiti. She went on to co-star in the long-running sitcom One Day at a Time. But in the years that followed, she would become better known for her very public battle with drugs and alcohol. Her controversial 2009 memoir High on Arrival is an unsparing account of her surreal showbiz upbringing, her journey through addiction and recovery, and - most shockingly - her incestuous relationship with her father.

She resonates as telling the truth, not just here but on other talk shows. Talk about guts and bravery! Wow, I have nothing but admiration and deep heart felt respect for this young woman now. Let the healing begin. She's been through her own prviate hell that mirrows the same of many others out there. Wow, it all leaves me speachless and horrified to know this is nothing but the tip of the iceburg within our private little protected worlds. I wish others would come forth to offer encouragent.
