NPR President and CEO Vivian Schiller says radio is not going anywhere, despite all of the new media available to consumers.
Ms. Schiller visited Rochester in October. Schiller, who became NPR's top executive in January 2009, previously served as general manager of NYTimes.com. Before that, she led the Discovery Times cable channel and CNN's documentary division. So she's new to radio -- but not to news. WXXI News Director Julie Philipp talked with Schiller about making the transition to NPR during a very challenging time for news organizations around the world. Here are some highlights from their discussion in the Radio Talk Studio at WXXI.

Radio isn't going anywhere, but NPR's reputation is down the tubes. The two women who have said derogatory things should be fired along with Schriller. And this would be a good time for Schriller to consult with her nearest Jenny Craig outlet or plastic surgeon, or both.... "take your pick."

We know Air America didn't go anywhere. Now, thanks to Vivian Schiller, NPR isn't going anywhere either. Maybe Schiller should see a psychiatrist.
