a countdown I made for my animation demo reel in 1982. Based on this I was hired to make a series of counting animations for Sesame Street which won an EMMY. They asked me to make something like this, but not so scary, no pointy teeth.
Some details about the sound...the screaming woman's voice with funky base is from Prince, the #4 operatic voice is Klaus Nomi, and the number "2" is my homage to Charlemagne Palestine.
I must admit, I've noticed a lot of people saying they were scared of things on Sesame Street. And if this was a real S.S. skit, I'm sure this would've terrified lots of kids...
@Pikachuiscool@Pikachuiscool -ha ha, this countdown is punk-psychotic for sure! But, you are confused. This was not a Sesame Street film - it was the countdown I made for my demo reel. When the director of production at Sesame Street saw it, she loved it and asked me to do a "cute" version for their show. But, bringing numbers "to life" might be scary no matter how cute they are!
@VJnumber1 I knew you said it wasn't a real Sesame Street skit. But I noticed you mentioned that you were hired for Sesame Street but they didn't want you to make one like this. That's what I was refering to. ;)
@Pikachuiscool OK, I see you are speculating, projecting. Of course, lol, a clip like this would have sent half the parents through the roof too! I do understand what you are trying to say, but you have a little verbal curve ball there, cause In fact, they did want me to make one like this, but not so scary. We talked at length about what was scary to avoid. No pointy teeth, no bloody eyeballs, no nervous breakdowns, etc. Obvious. LOL.
