@jesperbech The point is that they pick OP characters because they want to win. Picking good character for the sakes of winning is tier whoring. There is nothing wrong with that, but the Japanese aren't above it. They are not remotely low tier heroes that you speak of. Let's not pretend that Tokido didn't pick Phoenix because she wasn't overpowered.

My guess is they only had streams to go on and picked what Justin Wong did because they naively assumed he was not a TIER WHORE

If you had never played MvC 3 and didn't know characters, what team would YOU make for a 10.000 dollar competition ? Random ????

@ironboy89 Repeating the same stuff you said before without countering what I just said, that they did so because they didn't know the game at all compared to the competition and needed something where they at least had a CHANCE, Well it makes sense if you don't really know the game to pick what your competition does, Hell without that they might as well have picked Arthur, Felicia, Haggar, They didn't have TIME or HISTORY with the game to make a team, like say Fanatiq

Except that Tokido tier whores, and pick Wolverine because he was totally top tier material. Daigo pick Wolverine, Dante, Akuma. Top tier Team. 80% of the Japanese players at EVO pick Phoenix/Wolverine in the same team.

@ironboy89 Omg Tokido was new to MvC 3, he picked Wolverine and went with a basic strategy because he was new to the game at that was his best chance, and, from what I could see he got his inspiration from Noel Brown and Justin Wong, in the first place.
