Its production is unrelated to 1999's Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie, which was produced by Group TAC. The film was produced specifically for the English language market and has never been officially released in Japan

This is a movie made by manga and a original story by capcom specifically made to revolve around the history of Ryu and Akuma (Gouki) and Jaydazz22 u are right on cause Akuma is the father of Ryu, all the subliminals in the movie is in your face and research wikipedia for proof cause they say it there too along with only certain fighters being able 2 possess the dark hadou through a bloodline trait, its non canon but the storyline of Ryu was the purpose of this movie, its isolated from others

@gq318 some starwars bullshit you made up in your head. for all you know he could very well be ryu's uncle, on his mother's side. the satsui no hadou is not a bloodline trait, of course only a few people are able to use/ be consumed by it, it's brought on by strong desire to win in those who push themselves to be the best fighter , when such a person is willing to kill or to win at all costs it manifests. N00b ... this is a movie by capcom, so what, so is phoenix wright..

@Tupples1 yes. That's the true storyline. But gouki is still used in japan, but akuma is here in America! But gouken didn't die, just in a coma for a while!

Akuma (Gouki) is the brother of Ryu and Ken's late master: Gouken. Gouken and Akuma's master was called Goutetsu and tried to stop Gouki form using the dark hadou by battling him, Gouki killed Goutestsu using the Satsui no hado (dark hado), out of anger Gouken fought Gouki who later changed his name to Akuma to show his disconnection from his ''weak'' brother. Akuma again used the satsui no hado and murdered his brother Gouken.
