  • WW2 was a unique time. For the folks that went though it, I'm sure have bonded them together. Everyone pulled together and did their part to help the war effort. She did what she knew, entertaining, and did it in a big way. It's nice to hear that she did her part from the heart! I've just always been a fan of hers. she's just a powerful person, and wacky, funny, a great singer... I like the fact that she's not a glamor girl., but can look hot! She always plays down her beauty for a laugh!

  • she saw me and my girlfriend walk in to the bar, and then invited us to sit with her.she said the MARINE CORPS was her favorite, even though she loved all branches just the same. we had a ball listening to her. she sure touched my heart.

  • When she was tipsy, did she ever shout out, "OH BOY" ???!!!!

  • i met her in a bar in sanjuan capistrano ca in 1983. she is a sweetheart in my memories. she just loved us marines........

  • What's not to love?!

  • I would have loved to hang out with Martha Raye, she'd be so much fun HAHA

  • Might be kind of dirty and dark in her coffin!!! Ha ha....

  • The film I'd referred to is ,"Keep 'em Flying". Two sides of Martha and beautiful funny.

  • She may have been The Perfect USO gal for WW2. Talented and no problem with all out self-deprecating humor, sexy. Her long career proves her value to all. - I'd like to find the scene she did w/ Lou Costello in one of those 'canteen' movies. An Army Air Corps thing? She plays her own twin sister, and poor Lou.

  • @gregoryagogo Well said. There were not many in that category. Lucille Ball was similar in some ways.

  • yes yes yes - absolute killer piece of film. Thanks.

  • This is so good, her voice is just perfect as always. Still not to worry, we still have the x factor !!!!!!

  • @leatherneck7786

    In what year?

  • HOW I LOVE MARTHA RAYE AND THIS SONG . PRICELESS !!!!!!

  • i got to see her a few times in the same bar. she never seemed tipsy, just a happy sweet lady. each time, we drank a few mixwd drinks and talked about her career, and times she toured with Bob Hope and the USO. the military loved her and in appreation, the ARMY and the Marines promoted her to honerable Seargent. the best times with her was the hugs and kisses she gave me, when i ran into her. its funny, i never asked her for an autograph.
