This is a video clip from the DVD program "Storm Chase 1996-2001 by Robert Prentice."
The video was shot at Sterling, Oklahoma and along I-44 at Chickasha, Oklahoma. These were tornadoes "A3," "A7" and "A8" as seen in this tornado outbreak path map:

  • @DjHardaFasta I remember reading that the CAPE was somewhere above 6000. Definitely a lot of instability!

  • I remember this like it happened yesterday. I remember watching the tornado go over my house, before it touched down but I stood outside and watched the funel pass over and could see it rotating.

  • Great video on some of the lesser known tornadoes that occured hours before the monster.

  • all my family practically live in chickasha. i now live in del city. i live in the house that this tornado torn down... but i also lived in midwest city and the tornado stopped at my street

  • Im from Oklahoma...oklahoma city but i have family in Both Chickasha and Cyril! there all ok tho i remmeber that tornado there was one in the city also and we had to ruin a block to get to my Grandmas cellar!

  • what was the CAPE like that day? must of been 5000+

  • the in flow on this storm was jus so powerful. the energy bein display by those supercells was mind boggling

  • i lived on grand ave. at the time i was four ,now im fourteen and still vividly remember it

  • This is why I watched the weather constantly, and I'm always going to my uncles for shelter! I don't care if I'm paranoid, at least I'm alive.
