  • With all due respect, this is just a demonstration, a performance of wushu... Tell me, is it possible to adapt this art in a real battlefield?.. Cause from what I've seen, 095093001 is right... It kinda lacks speed and strength, or is it just preliminary?..

  • @yucko1990

Hung gar is a traditional style; it has proven its effectivity in many historical

fights (Wong Fei Hung, Lam Sei Wing...)

In the video you see beginners during slow technical training.

Speed you can see in the shown applications.

  • Who was the artist for the drumming in this video?

    Its addictive.

Oh and the kung fu was great too.

  • all done by students of the school

    it´s our lion dance drumming,

    slow version for this video

  • My sifu is a student of Grand Master Lam Chun Fai too! But I had to learn through private lessons due to the limited amount of time and the distance I was from him(while in university in Canada), I really wish I had the opportunity to be in a class setting with people my own age like you guys! And now I'm back in Bhutan, no hung gar school here, left to train on my own :'-( ... practicing what I already know is keeping me busy enough anyways ^_^

    -Greetings from the Himalayas!

  • Thanks for your comments!

Hung Gar is a very famous style, you will find much inspiration here.

    Keep your enthusiasm!

  • this is the moi fah kuen fist set, ( plum blossom fist ) , its an old form , and yes aplications are tried and tested in battle, all the tecniques work i have used them my self , its a form that deals with the missing angles of gung gi fuk fu kuen ( tiger subduing the mind form ), like a linking form as it where, hung gar truely for teh hard core amungst us.

  • @Urfriendlypixolinha Indeed. What matters most is the level of training of the practitioner. Right you are, serious martial arts are not pretty, they are extremely violent, designed to finish the attacker in one or three moves.

  • I have seen a properly-trained kung fu guy beating up a pack of street punk. It was not pretty, but effective. In ancient times kung fu was a military training, these days it's (or should be) for self defence. Hope this answers to all those who doubt on the effectiveness of MA as soon as they do not see a couple of muscle-packed MMAA-professional fighters wrestling about in underpants.

  • lacks strength? lol

Strength is one thing Hung Gar definitely has. Look at all the weighted forms, all the exercises where they have to strike while the other person is pushing against their fist? Hung Gar focuses on muscle strength

  • Due to the nature of private lessons, I never learnt the shorter forms... Went straight from Gung Gee, Fu hok, Sup Ying, 5th brother's 8 diagram pole to double dragon broad swords and by then my time there expired, he didn't even charge me for the last lesson
