Mitakuye Oyasin" (We Are All Related) is a short documentary that sheds a light on the problems facing the noble people of the Great Sioux Nation. Filmed in the Badlands of South Dakota and on the Sioux Reservations, this documentary focuses on the reintroduction of the once indigenous wild horses to the lands of the Great Sioux. These wild mustangs themselves face eradication and there is hope this will help build a bridge to a a better future for these wild creatures and for this noble people.

  • So sad. I love Horses. Thank you for this.

  • We truly are all connected and related. I am not native, and I live in Canada, here many people call the natives First Nations...with good reason. I have very good friends who are First Nations, and what they have taught me is immeasurable. But the conditions in which some live, is beyond deplorable. We are all brothers and sisters, none should be left behind.

  • thank you for this wonderful video..!love and respect..Mitakuye Oyasin-We're All One..

  • @SunkaWakanAllRelated Thank you, I do not partake in causes on facebook though, for security reasons I have set my account there to secure, which does not allow aps or causes.

You may however, be interested in searching out the facebook group, Logical Solutions to the Wild Horse Problem, and post your ideas there. Warning, a number of the members there are pro-slaughter (NOT me), but through respectful sharing of ideas, it is hoped we can work together to find a workable solution.

  • Thanks, MustangBlue, for your input. We hope you check out our Causes page on facebook, to help "Create Sunka Wakan - the Lakota Cambridge School" in Pine Ridge Reservation. Since your father-in-law grew up there, perhaps you can contribute to the discussion and ideas. Mitajuye Oyasin!

  • Palama ya ye. This is a very good video, but is incorrect as to the government killing the mustangs. BLM does not slaughter mustangs, nor do they send them to slaughter. It is hoped that more people will adopt them though, so as to keep them from going to Long Term Holding.

My heart goes out to to peoples of Pine Ridge where my Father in Law grew up, and to other Nations that suffer such hardships.

  • Every fiber of my being feels this. Thank You!
