@onotadaki He's not almost manic, he IS MANIC. I seriously suspect crystal meth use.
-
@Blurns hahaha and how exactly do you know that?
-
@Blurns You really think a soldier is going to hike for miles wearing that giant bulky piece of shit? God I mean bullet-proof technology has been around for decades. It's not that stopping bullets is difficult, it's that it's prohibitively heavy.

@Juggerknot79 Think about it this way. The armor you have doesn't protect you from that either. But this armor might protect you slightly more in close quarters combat with a gun, and that's more than a standard military grade suit can give you, I'm sure. Just like drawing a picture, you can't try to perfect it while sketching the first step and outlines. You have to layer it, and work on it over time -- it's not going to be a one shot wonder.

@Juggerknot79 Being in the military and having ballistics training, I applaud Troy's tireless and most likely expensive research into his product. However, show me the armor stopping 7.62 ammunition from an AK-47, or even sniper ammunition from the Barret .50 caliber. THIS demonstration will knock my socks off. Insurgents aren't killing our troops with handguns. They're spraying and praying with machine guns and rifles.

@Juggerknot79 Which brings up another question of internal organ damage. Our organs aren't quite as dense as the ballistic clay he uses to show secondary damage. The body armor the military uses; while heavy, cumbersome and mostly useless anyways, is specifically designed to stop smaller caliber, HIGH velocity ammunition coming from RIFLES. These bullets are designed to be a point penetration with maximum distribution of force once it enters the body.

I think it's great that Troy is developing cutting edge body armor that enables troops to have a level of comfort in protection with claims of 97% body coverage with 95% flexibility and 23 Kg weight ballast. The big question is whether this body armor will stop high velocity rounds. Yes, it is clear the body armor stops low velocity rounds from HANDGUNS and SHOTGUNS, but those are large caliber bullets with low velocity impact and blunt penetration.

@Blurns actually that depends on where the aliens are from and oh my god I can't believe I started arguing over this.

prove the bullets went through you fucking hick.
Why is the Camera so far away? I cant see if the bullets went through....

@LawAbidingBird When he lifts up the armor, you can see that they neither penetrated nor dented the clay behind the vest. I had nothing to do with the production of this video, so I can't tell you why he didn't zoom in.

@Blurns
But the practicality of the armor. Look how exposed a large portion of the body is. Anyone can build armor that is X inches thick, use a bonding agent and it'll take a lot of hits. But it's the weight and coverage area that counts.

@darkmaster388 The entire suit isn't shown in the video. He claims that there's 97% body coverage, 95% joint flexibility & weighs less than 50 lbs.(22.7kg) Even if those claims are exaggerated, that's far more coverage than the armor US & Canadian soldiers get.

Haha to think i was afraid of an alien invasion

@mrslapbob It's not like advanced space aliens would be using bullets. If aliens did invade, they'd be armed with far more advanced personal weapons.
