  • @TheZeke1974 The best 5/8 wave Ground Plane is The Hy Gain 525 Bar None..Period )and as far as your 35yr old against any? It is a great old ground plane but check out the Mojove k10 Interceptor....You said any 5/8...You did'nt give a price range,,As far as the best (preforming) ground plane made today,,,I would say the Sirio VECTOR 4000...I have two cophased with a hy gain cophaser(if your old enough to remember those) 18' apart 36 ' high, I have'nt had a bit of trouble with them,

  • I had a maco 5/8 and in comparison to my avanti sigma 5/8 the maco was a piece of JUNK! Never again! My Avanti is well over 35 years old and it blows away any other verticles made nowadays.

  • Actually, that looks like a Maco Alpha V58. The Avanti has shorter radials that have steel 'stinger' whip tips and a larger "circle".

  • Is that Avanti AV-170 5/8 wave? Where can I find some part of this antenna, I looking for the fiberglass insultion (part no2726) where the loding coil is...

  • looks like a Hy-gain/Telex 5/8 super Penetrator i had one on a 40' tower for years it was a great antenna.
