@rco20 The RCMP will not teach you anything relating to defensive shooting what so ever if you are a civilian. Mostly because they don't want you to have a gun in the first place. Also I am a Canadian and I want my tax dollars to go to something more important then settling youtube arguments.
@rco20 sigh... I'm not going to contact the RCMP, I already know that your statement is incorrect. It would be both stupid and a waste of my time to ask people who know less about shooting and are poorer shooter than I for advice. The RCMP can contact me when they want to get a clue as to how to shoot.
@DeadeyeSteve Well it's up to osudude1313 who advice he takes. As for you DeadeyeSteve if you dont think my statement is correct your always welcome to contact the source of my facts by phoning recruitment/training at the RCMP.
@rco20 No sir, the pistol is not directly in line with the middle of your body, it is directly between your eye and the target. Also, those that shoot with both eyes open report they do so out to much further distances than 3 meters.
If your using the isosceles stance then it won't matter which eye you use as the pistol is directly in line with the mid-line of your body. The isosceles stance was made as a ambidextrous stance so the shot transition between hands is easy and you can move side to side quickly to obtain cover from incoming fire. If your about 3 meters away from the target you should start closing one eye to align your sights any closer than that keep both eyes open. Hope that helps.
Your other choices are to move the gun up in front of your left eye (don't move your head/eye to the gun) or learn to shoot left handed. Ultimately you try all three and find what is working best for you. One of the worlds very best shooters, Brian Enos, never learned to shoo with both eyes open and simply used his right eye even though he was left eye dominant.
@osudude1313 I'm also right handed and left eye dominant. I simply close my left eye and shoot. Will this stop me from making GM? Maybe. Did it stop me from making Master? Nope. Did it stop me from winning two Texas Single Stack Shootouts, two AASA Nationals Titles, and the Single Stack Division at the Texas State Limited? Nope. Some will offer you academic argument. I offer you advise based on what I do and the results there of.
Anyone have any advice about which eye to use to align sights? I'm left eye dominant but right handed...typically close my right eye while shooting. I'm wondering if switching to the right eye or both eyes open will be beneficial to my accuracy. Any help is appreciated
