@HolyBomb For the children cancer thing, if the kids (or their parents) let the child roll in like toxic waste or extreme radiation, then yeah you tell them. But this guy left his troop, his responsibility, and was caught and killed. He killed his self. No one else. Him.
A persons should know what ends[ed] them. Take away their true last right IS cruelty. Whether they like it or not. Ego stroking will do nothing. It's not for the person; it's for you.

@HolyBomb Because you're ignoring the purpose of what got them killed. Taking subject is example of given, then he should know what killed him. Stroking he's petty pride will do nothing especially when he's in the wrong. Oh, yes the wrong. Such people deserve NO special easy fence riding ego stroking.
What you are talking about is fence-riding and avoiding to look or even acknowledge subject wrong deeds. That thinking leads to more evil than malice.

@BlueMageWithSoulEdge You are saying that stroking someones ego is bad , but you are not saying why is bad.
-
@HolyBomb Stroking someone ego is the worse thing to do. If someone is dying then that person deserves the right to know why they are dying (or the reason thereof). Nothing "cruel" about; it's life.
-
@BlueMageWithSoulEdge To lie to a diying man is cruel, but to say the cruel truth to a dying man in order to give him a lot more painful death is a lot more cruel than the last one. Sometimes you make priorities of the outcomes and decide what is best or what is not.

In a why the solider got what he deserves. His self pity and morning is what got him killed, about an idea--a fear--that was not real. Me personally I would have told him the truth. To lie to a dieing man is cruel.
Not gonna lie , I cried during this story
