Fantastic video and Highwaymen song! I have sailed Puget Sound and Lake Superior but never the East Coast. If you ever need someone to crew I'm ready!

Nice friends you picked up along the way.

Beautiful video. I have always wanted to learn to sail and this just stirred me up again.

Thanks for the great video, I sailed from Melboune to key west on a Tanzer 22 in 93. Ironically I just purchased a Cal 27 in RI and will be sailing it home to jax Fl. next week. Tough time of year mid Oct. to make a trip starting that far north.

Awesome video! Great song too...
I'm envious of such a trip, and hope to do something similar in the future. How much distance did you cover in a day?

Hi Walt,
There are lots of different ways to go about cruising. First trip I did was mostly Intracoastal waterway with some 1 and 2 day runs outside (5-20 miles offshore).
Now I do mostly outside, 36, 48 or 72 hour runs depending on the leg and the weather and only do the ICW from virginia to NC to avoid Cape Hatteras.
Generally, it's the weather that will have the biggest effect on your comfort levels.
The short answer is 50 to 100 miles a day.

She's a 1969 Allied Luders 33. She's been good to me for sure.
