After my dad and I get off our northbound MARC train at Odenton Station we stay for about an hour for some railfanning. The trains where on the wrong track because of trackwork.

First: Our northbound MARC commuter train with HHP-8 #4912 in front departs Odenton Station with 6 cars going to Baltimore Penn Station. Multilevel cab car #7854 is in the back.

Second: A southbound MARC commuter train with single level cab car #7750 pulls into Odenton Station with 7 cars going to Union Station with HHP-8 #4910 pushing in the back.

Third: A northbound Amtrak Regional train flys by Odenton Station with AEM-7AC #925 pulling in front with 8 amfleet cars going to New York Penn Station.

Fourth: A northbound MARC commuter train with one of the new MP36PH-3C diesel locomotives #33 flys by express with 4 cars going to Baltimore Penn Station.

Fifth: A northbound Amtrak HHP-8 #650 runs by with a Silver Service train going to New York Penn Station.

Sixth: A southbound Amtrak Acela Express with power car #2021 in front and power car #2024 in back flys by on the middle track going to Union Station.

Seventh: A northbound MARC commuter express train with 2 MP36PH-3C locomotives #30 and #13 and 9 multilevel cars fly by. I believe this train might have been going to Perryville Station.

Eighth: A southbound Amtrak HHP-8 #651 flys by with a Silver Service train going to Florida.

Ninth: Our southbound MARC commuter train arrives in the station to take me and my dad back to Union Station.

After the conductors collect our tickets we take a seat and ride back to Union Station. Before arriving we pass by Ivy City Yard again where we see a mix of MARC and Amtrak equipment being stored and serviced. Then as we pull into Union Station again we see another mix of equipment getting ready for service to different places. After we arrive at Union Station we take a quick look of everything and then my dad and I head back outside for more sightseeing!

  • Great Video !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice catch with the MP36PH-3C doubleheader !!!!!!!!!

What was the speed of MP36PH-3C locomotives through the station ?

The commuter coach seats at the end of the video look confortable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was they ?

  • @truerailfan01 Thank you! I am guessing the speed was about 75 to 85 mph and the seats in the MARC commuter coach where very confortable! It was a nice ride to and from Odenton.

  • Awesome video! I really love the paint scheme on MARC's HHP-8s. Nice catch with the MP36PH-3C doubleheader!

  • @GenesisSanctuary Thanks! I think the MP36PH-3C doubleheader was substitution for an electric locomotive. That train was the 9 car multilevel express to Perryville and usually a HHP-8 would pull that train. But it was still cool to see!

  • Its crazy how from different parts of Odenton the station looks totally different!

    Great Video!

  • Very cool catches, you were down in my neck of the woods! At 2:25 you can see the engineer left the door open on the HHP-8.

  • MARC is allowed top speeds of 125 mph... fastest commuter train line in US.

  • @NJTAmtrakGuy. Cool the reason I asked about the MP36-3C locomotives because they're geared for 108mph and I thought they was doing that.

The seats in a MARC bi level coach look comfortable.

Are the single level coach seats comfortable ?
