@JA3219: All good points except for that last part. Soviet generals were not arrogant. They were fearful. Terrified of being put in front of a firing squad for defying "The Boss" Joseph Stalin. Similar to Hitler, Stalin had his hands in every aspect of soviet military strategy.

Arguing about who won the war is pointless. I do agree that the soviet union played a pivotal part in the second world war and may have contributed the most but you are too blind to see that Russia alone could not have won the war as it was the combind efforts of the Allied countries. I am not a "stupid American" or American at all but I see that the Allied forces in total won the including the Soviet Union. Lastly the Soviets lost so many men because many of their generals were arogant.

@Goatoftheforest did whole of the german military forces invaded USA for 4 years straight, and made them fought to the last man to defend their country and afterwords fighting the germans back to Berlin ? might also consider civil losses ? stupid americans...
