I think Dame Kiri captures the essence of what Strauss is expressing to absolute perfection! There is a purity, coupled with an innate sense of musicality to interpret these beautiful, but extremely difficult works, without falling into the opera singers trap of operafying a lied! Bravissima!

well, a really nice posting these 4 last lieder written by Richard Strauss, considered his musical testament, and dame Te Kanawa makes them brilliant, shining and clear as swarowski crystal!
