PickupTrucks.com's Mike Levine checks out the new J8 MILSPEC from American Expedition Vehicles. It's the same as the rugged Jeep J8 used overseas by the Egyptian army. AEV will sell you the rolling chassis. You choose a four-cylinder diesel or Hemi V-8. All for around $50K.

  • WANT IT WANT IT WANT IT... but liberties' diesel engine I'm not that sure... those power plants didn't stick around for that long which makes me wonder a bit...as to why exactly did they phase them out that fast.. anyone know why? please let me know.

  • I wish they'd get a v8 or at least a beefier v6 for the regular Wranglers. The 3.8 in the wrangler now is kind of a pansy on the highway. I know it's aimed more for torque (but it can't even chirp the tires) and has the aerodynamics of a brick, but a 0-60 run of 10+ seconds and 17MPG highway seems pretty lame for a brand new car or even a truck. Supposedly they're getting a new engine this year, so we'll see how that goes.

  • @tallzdatank Are you serious?? the diesel is weak? It puts out 339 ft pounds at 1600 RPMs @23 MPG highway.. you know what RPMs are, right? 5.7 Hemi cranks out 390 ft pounds at ~4000 RPMS @ a realistic 17 MPG..... you know don't really know much about engines. So the diesel puts out 87% torque of the gas option at half the displacement with much better fuel economy. Hell the 3.0 diesel puts out 410 foot pounds and still gets better fuel economy. High TQ, low RPM, high MPG = WIN for an offroad rig

  • @The1LonleyKitler the door

  • If I recall, wasn't the scrambler marked the CJ8? so does that make this the new scrambler???

  • Wow, I wish they would stick to facts instead of making things sound better then they are. It's built with Jk wrangler parts which has solid axles front and rear it makes it sound like those are added on bonuses. The Dana 60 rear maybe. 50,000 for a low end pickup....crazy just to have something different.

  • @deanschool yea but if jeep wanted to sell NEW vehicles its one suggestion i think they should look into. honestly start using the good of the old vehicles and some of the good in the new ones combine the 2 and make an excellent rig.

  • @idrobinhood yes it is. now.
