  • good stuff

  • it's funny to read how some people say Johnny can't play TCM just because he makes a little mistake in one of those videos. I have hundreds of Smiths live tapes and he plays every song to absolute perfection, it's almost impossible to hear him make a mistake, not many other guitarrists can say that.

  • thanks for uploading this, I've been practicing this all day. Sounds great with some chorus and delay.

  • yer right. He plays close to flawlessly. I'm a big Neil Finn fan, and he was the same way at those concerts, playing [and adding to] others' material with little rehearsal.

  • @castros3222 what do you mean?

  • Metal guru - is it you? - erm yes it is actually...

  • @gonzax As a guitar player I can tell you there's not much chance of me being able to play something I wrote a few years back without difficulty. Sometimes I completely forget. I do play Marr's stuff though, it's good exercise..

  • @castros3222 oh yeah, i completely agree with you on that. no one can write riffs like johnny marr. he's a genius.

  • @FretLegendSmithy Johnny can play all of his songs better then anyone fluff or no fluff I agree. I have also seen people like Daniel Earwicker play Johnny's tunes superbly, and even Mr. Craig above does very well himself. My original point I tried to make was, regardless of how and who plays the tunes well, writing the tunes is a different ball game, and that, no one can compare to the legend Marr.

  • @castros3222 i've seen both the videos in question. but noel talks about johnny trying to recreate the beginning of How Soon Is Now, presumably regarding the effects and the tremolo. As for the this charming man video, just because he makes a little mistake at the beginning doesn't mean he doesn't know how to play the song, or that he can't play it fluently. it was just an unfortunate fluff.

  • @FretLegendSmithy Johnny is a brilliant guitarist, but if you research some if his own interviews including that of Noel Gallager, it has been admitted that Johnny has had trouble picking and strumming his own tunes. His stuff is so unique and complicated that the master himself sometimes has a rough time. Listen to Johnny play this charming man in one of his latest interviews. Although very awesome to watch, you can clearly see him muck it up at the beginning of the picking portion.
