  • Poor woman, I imagine how horrific was for her, lying on the bed, fighting to move right arm to reach her nose, she nearly do it!!

Do no complaint about stupid things,, because live is a present, and most of us ungrateful and redneck badpersons.

  • von Economo encephalitis...no dubt that the "lethargic" word is completely matching with the post influenzae syndrome

  • Thank you for posting this book title. I have this disease (diagnosed in '09) and it is so rare I can't find anything about E.L. since Sack's book, which was groundbreaking but now is outdated. I'll look for Caldwell's book. This virus robs your brain of who you are. Encephalitis Lethargica is a cunning and cruel bedfellow.

  • I just learned about this little known epidemic yesterday.

Reading a book called 'ASLEEP' by Molly Caldwell Crosby.Pub 2011

Ended up reading until 3.00 in the morning it was so interesting!!!

There are clips of Molly on YouTube discussing the book.

  • thumbs up if you watched this vid while searching for Meshuggah!

  • They could have given the patient some dignity by dressing her appropriately and doing her buttons up -basic nursing care ...not just a "case "in question ...

  • @Rapusha who lack proper grammar skills..

  • hey, if you are interested in, you should read Oliver Sacks "Awakenings" (bzw. Zeit des Erwachens für alle Deutschen ;D) ... it gives you a really good look inside of the true feelings and hopes of patients and their doctors and about the importance of L-Dopa in Parkinson

  • so sad

  • i can't imagine how it must have been like living in her shoes. i hope her life came to a peaceful end...

  • Seems to me that the encephalitis hampered the part in the brain responsable for hand movement, or the right side of thebody....
