Laser-assisted plasma YSZ deposition is a new method to create non-porous thermal barrier coatings on various materials. This is a test at CMPI, UIUC, YSZ is placed at the branch of the discharge tube, which is ablated by a Nd:YAG laser at 532nm, the atoms will be knocked out and directed into a helium plasma before deposited on a Si substrate.
