The very famous stage production by Giorgio Strelher.
Fabulous cast : Jose Van Dam (Figaro), Lucia Popp (Susanna), Gundula Janowitz (Contessa Almaviva), Gabriel Bacquier (Almaviva), Federica Von Stade (Cherubino), Jane Berbié (Marcellina).

Wonderful balance between the voices here. Popp and Janowitz are amazing of course, and I also love Gabriel Bacquier's baritone here - beautiful tone!

My favourite part is after the recit as Susanna brings everything crashing back in with "O cielo!" Incredible.

For me it is also a special production, it is the first opera i saw in Paris Opera Garnier.

MUEZZAB, could you upload the entire opera ? You have a few scenes but not the whole thing. I've been enjoying this on many levels. I was born in 1980, so this for me is a special production that people saw while I was still in diapers! I love the singers Janowitz, Popp, Bacquier and Van Dam. Sounds like it was a marvelous production. And Solti conducting! Why wasn't I born in 1950 or 1960 instead so that by 1980 I would be either 20 or 30 and seen this opera!

i agree. the balance is absolutely incredible. when fleming played Contessa, she was just overpowering. still love her though

I agree, excellent balance between voices. Just right amount of volume. Usually, I like it more when the Contessa sings those little parts that go higher. Such as 1:01-1:04. But Lucia Popp does it so beautifully that I don't care.
