Slow Ball Challenge - TAC Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades

Slow Ball Challenge was developed by the TAC in partnership with the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades to ask Victorians to commit to slowing down on our roads and ultimately, reduce the number of people from being killed or seriously by road trauma

Speeding drivers are the biggest killers on Victorian roads. Every year about 100 people die in crashes in which speed was a factor. This is why it's important for all Victorians to get on board and commit to slowing down on the roads.
By doing so and taking part in the Slow Ball Challenge, entrants will have the chance to be one of two teams that will each win $5,000 and play a game of Slow Ball cricket during the KFC T20 Big Bash League game at the MCG on 19 January.

How to play a game of Slow Ball:
Rules:
• Two teams of five
• Batters bat in pairs and face two overs (10 balls in total) between them
• The 5th batter in the team, teams up with the captain and only faces one over between them
• Each person on the fielding team must bowl an over
• Batters can go out as many times during their innings (but a penalty applies -- see scoring)
• TWIST: Each batting team can call for ONE slow ball to be bowled at any point in their innings, the bowler must bowl an easy, under arm ball (but not Ian Chappell style!)

Scoring:
• Each team starts at 65 runs with the aim to wipe off the most amount of runs
• The score is wiped off for each run between the wickets. If a boundary is reached or hit over on the full, the maximum total of 5 runs is wiped off
• If the batter goes out, 5 runs are added back on to the score
• The team with the least amount of runs remaining wins
• If both teams end on the same score, the winning team is the one who reached that score in the least amount of balls
