I'm sure you heard the horrible news that David Cook's brother passed away from Brain Cancer over the weekend the day before David was to attend one of the largest events for Brain Tumor Research in Washington DC. I was there, and David told me the news just before going onstage and announcing to the world. Here's the AMAZING back story. David had a show in Florida the night before, hopped on a plane around midnight, arrived in DC about 3A, he went to some hotel for a few hours, RAN the 5k in 28 minutes, hung out with fans and inspired survivors, then hit the air again to play in Georgia that night - the whole time with the news of his brother so fresh in his mind. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! He handled the day like a total pro and could have SO easily canceled, but didn't. What a quality human!

  • I was there as part of David Cook team and want to thank you for posting this video and for your compassion, Tommy. David truly is amazing to have done what he did on Sunday and after receiving such devastating personal news, it's just so true to his character. His show last night in Athens, GA was incredible. He is such an inspiration.

  • David Cook has a beautiful soul. To put his personal grief aside to honour his brother, the cancer survivors, and others that didn't make it through this terrible disease truly made it a race for hope. My utmost admiration for everyone else affected in some way by cancer.

  • What a man. Seriously, I don't know how he could even wake up the next day much less run like that. Gosh, amazing.

  • David is a wonderful, caring, amazing guy, if I was him and I just lost a family member to a brain tumor, I would not know what to do, but he still ran in the race in the memory of his brother, David, I love you, you are a amazing guy, my

thoughts and prayers are with you and your family through this difficult time.

  • That's horrible. I can't imagine how badly he felt, that right after they arrived in DC he was informed that his brother died. He's strong.

  • Great though heartbreaking video. Tommy showed a lot of class. Kudos.

  • thanks for sharing this, tommy. it's weird, even though i obviously knew adam had passed, my heart still skipped a beat just now when david said it. what a man.

  • Thanks Tommy. Just Beautiful and touching.
