What are you talking about I LOVE this movement hahah. It's not boring. It's so Brahms :) I like the way Yo yo ma interpreted it, it has a very waltzy feel to it. I'm playing it for my class and I love it :P

u dnt ave 2 pick out all the bad points of the cello playin, ure just jealous tht he can play 3 times better than u can!!!!!
-
the tempo flows nicely

One thing here is right - the tempo. The glissandi do not fit, but I guess it is rather due to insufficient control of the instrument rather than bad taste.

about the tempo thing, i dont really like too, especially the expressive trio part, but it is written,(MM=144) and i am supposed to play this song for my exam too.. Feeling very lost..
The intonation is awful, for sure, but let's be careful about saying "it's marked MM 144" or "it should be like a waltz. Who says it's like a waltz? Who marked it 144? Not Brahms. A cellist friend of mine never plays this piece because she finds this movement so boring; but of course it's boring really slowly! And it's not challenging. Remember, this sonata originally had 4 movements.. the slow one was taken out. This is NOT a slow movement.
