Ladies and Gentleman: ....The Who.

I'm 61 now, but I was there and remember it like it was yesterday. They were just overwhelming. The gigantic crowd was flattened. I could hardly breathe. No one had expected the way they looked or their stage presence, larger than life. I've never seen anything like it since, not ever.

@trapper2 I disagree. Townshend got into an argument with Jimi at Monterey because he didn't want to follow him. He knew Jimi, virtually unknown to a U.S. audience, would be a tough act to follow. And what did he nick, other than destroying his guitar? Yeah, derivative, but it was unique. The Who is one of my favorite bands, but even they knew Jimi was on a whole other level. SSB at Woodstock is legendary, as is this, I just put it at 2nd place. Difference of opinion is all.

@irishsetter1972 sorry mate, but I gotta say this. Jimi did NOT upstage the Who here, or at Monteray, two different acts, and Jimi did nick a lot of their stuff. No knock on Hendrix because he is also amazing, but no upstaging, so sorry.

@nursesteve2004 Yes, there is. You have to buy the new edition of the Woodstock movie that came out last november, it's called "woodstock 40th anniversary box", you'll find in the bonus disc their entire performance of We're not gonna take it and the full lenght My Generation - Naked eye medley. i really recomend it to you. check it out!

There are countless clips of "My Generation/Naked Eye" from woodstock found on Google but nowhere have I found any that include the entire performance. Everything from start to 00:26 is missing from those clips......wonder why. Anybody know where there is a clip that includes the whole thing?

"Ladies and Gentleman _(insert ominous pause here, perfectly coupled with feedback)_ THE WHO. I just LOVE that.

I've seen this clip a thousand times and it still gives me goosebumps..Rock's pure essence and passion.
I have viewed 1000's of great rock moments on Youtube but this is the one I always come back to. When Townshend puts his foot on Moons drum kit and strums those F,C,& G chords so calmly after such mayhem and distortion, is just pure 60's perfection. I have been so influenced by this one moment in rock history. Thanks for the post!
