How to install valleys, ridge cap, pipe boots, pipe flashings. You need to check local building codes before doing your roof this way. Some states or counties require you to use 1 x 4's to strip the roof and some type of underlayment. Felt or synthetic. You may also choose to use some type of closures on the ridge and at the bottom of your roof. You may also want to tear your roof off. But the video shows you the basics on what you need to know about how to do a metal roof. I hope this video has been helpful to at least a few of you.

  • I guess these guys didn't realize that when they placed the metals in contact with the existing shingle they voided the home owners warranty.

  • @ab104g Man, If I would have known a 14 year old mobile home had a warranty I would not have done this.

  • Are you guys in the country illegally?

  • @handsupbud yes

  • Hey Armourmetals, nice video series. Thanks for taking the time to show how this is done. I'm in ATL so I may darken your door next year, unless you also supply to the ATL. I'm assuming non-removal of shingles is code in Augusta, or is that GA code??? FYI as far as comments, everyone is a pro on the internets you know!

  • yeah, I know what you mean about that. There is no code on the matter. use your own discretion. I get countless emails about how helpful the videos are so I don't worry too much about the negative comments from the penis gallery. I can delete them but I don't . Thanks for taking the time to watch them. Brian

  • Been over a year. No leak. I have had the same phone number for 15 years. I would know by now if our stuff leaks. What is it with all these random know it all jack asses attacking my way of doing things. Put your neck out on the line with your phone number on it and see how you like it. I put this video on here so people can know how to measure their roof for panels. A lot of homeowners would rather do it themselves than deal with hacks like yourself.

  • Helpful videos. The guy that says it voids warranty is very wrong. I am in Florida and there are Miami Dade and Florida product approvals from Manufacturer that show direct attachment to shingles. In Florida mobile homes are governed by Dept of Motor Vehicles and do not even fall under Buidling Codes because they are built in a factory. The guy is another idiot who thinks he knows something.

  • Thanks a bunch for the videos.

  • first time home buyer here, actually putting my roof on my myself and its a little more difficult than this roof because of all the gables and dormers but it's looking great so far, without your video's I couldn't of known how to measure it correctly, it cost me $4330 in materials, delivered that's all painted metal, all painted screws all wood screws sealant foam enclosures and 1x4x12's included. thanks again for having the basic how to videos available ! i wouldn't have attempted it other wise

  • i didn't like the way he treated the measurer......he was fantastic and I doubt he could have done as well

  • this is a freaking excellant video, .I'm a carpenter in florida where work is slow and I take care of my 72 year old father and the family house. We are on a fixed income and i will have to put a new roof on soon and this will help us so so much. Thank you very much guys!

  • This video was very helpful. I kept referring back to it while working on my roof. the only prob was i had to use furring strips (which gave me problems at the top of the valley) to keep from voiding my warranty. But ur vid served as a template to go off of. Thx for sharing. God bless
