This is a short-ish preview of the BBC iPlayer Wii Channel which was just released. The interface is neat, and will be immediately familiar to those who used the customised web "big screen" interface previously with the Wii's Internet Channel. There does however appear to be slightly less functionality for the +Control Button. I seem to remember being able to browse left/right through the programmes using it, but now you have to use the Wii pointer with the on-screen arrows. Not a big issue, but certainly worth noting.

I apologise for the quality of the video (several times during the video too) as it was filmed using a mobile phone camera and runs at about 15fps. If anyone has any questions please let me know.

[Additional Comments]
DrWho finally loaded! 3rd time lucky ;-).

[Corrections]
I'm not sure how I missed it, but there is a 'DEL' button on the Search screen, although it's at the bottom-right of the on-screen keyboard. Somehow I expected it to be to the right of the Search Bar.

  • i cant find it in north carolina

  • Unfortunately, the BBC iPlayer is only accessible in the UK :(.

However, US Wii owners will soon be getting Netflix, so don't feel too bad :).

  • I just want to thank you for making this; it was both interesting and useful.

I would also like to point out how awesome your voice is. You seem like a genuinely nice guy!

    Thanks.

  • Thanks for the positive comments :-).

I knew the quality would be bad, so just tried to include as much information as possible.

I didn't pay much attention to the voice! Just hoped it wasn't too croaky. Thanks again :-)

  • It happens. An error ocourred while loading. And sometimes it's about the strength of the internet. These things happen

  • Ah, I had that problem 2, twice while trying to load Doctor Who and once trying to load "Only a theory". About 10 minutes later they both worked fine though, so my advice would be to just keep trying.

There's mention of this all over the net, so could just be their servers getting hammered.

At least it's more stable than the 360's Sky Player was at launch ;).
