It's great, but... shouldn't the conducter stay facing the band while they're playing and conduct, instead of doing the choriography(sp?) along with the band?

Its really preference. Some directors like to have fun, and really show it. Its fine as long as the kids can handle it. If musicality is comprised, then theres a problem.
