Our Akita, GUINNESS from a puppy to 1/9/10: He was 3 on January 3rd!! He is a long hair akita, and I don't see too many of them around, either on youtube or in real life. He is the SWEETEST thing and along with our other dog, Millie, the love of our lives!!

Thank you SO much...We think he is beautiful too, but we may be just a bit partial. He is going to the groomer every 3 months (THAT was a chore! Just finding someone to actually agree to groom our "BIG, BAD Akita (LOL), but that's another Oprah) so that takes care of the "blowing his coat" thing in a good way. I'm jealous...I would LOVE to have 4 Akitas...I'm thinkin' that's dog heaven!! Are yours all short hairs? Ages? Genders? We have been told boys and girls okay: Same sex, NOT so good...

Hi we have got 2 long haired akitas a dog and a bitch,We dont breed they are r babes. What a time we have had trying to find a groomer who will do them, They assume every akita are bad.Plus they are hard work to groom. We take them every 10 weeks

i have a long coat called Suma he is the best dog ever, he;s 6 and a great play pal for my two young kids...grooming is a laugh...go check out my 1 wee video & you'll see Suma at brush time. Your dog is a gem...

I really loved your slideshow. I have shared life with three akitas. My second was a longhaired male who also loved to play in the snow. When I saw the picture of Hero sitting with snow all over him it made me laugh and enjoy the memory of Bear it sparked. Thank you for putting this together.
