Someone posted this response to Anne Lamott's comments here: "How very useless. People with substance use disorders deserve more than faith healing." A person's faith can help them through the ongoing process of leaving the life of alcohol. It is not instant. And they also need a circle of friends to reinforce this big change in how the live each day. So faith has helped lots of people, including a very good friend of mine, leave booze behind.
