This is pre broadcast footage from French TV, recorded at Festival de Chateauvallon, August 23rd 1972. Lovely and clear with some nice 'intimate' camera work.

I saw the original lineup at Tanglewood when I was, like,11 years old--the first concert I'd ever been to and still maybe the best. Anyway, every other act I've seen since has had a lot to live up to.

I saw them play in 1974 with the 11 piece unit and was right in front(front row) of John McLaughlin and Jean Luc Ponty ...It's great to see the origional band and be "on stage" with them ! This is a fantastic show and appreciate this upload VERY MUCH !

McLaughlin used a small Mesa Boogie amp...(like Santana) when I saw them.

However..the show was VERY LOUD and bright...(see other Bazonics uploads)

Is McLaughlin's amp not a tube amp? Were there solid state amps then?
