JVC GY HM100U & Letus Mini Test Shoot (HD)

Just bought the Letus mini and this short VT is the first result with very little practice. Shots around New York Mid January 2010. Edited in FCP with no colour grading. Raw native footage from The JVC GY HM 100, 1080i 30fps. HQ

@EZ23TEHE Yes of course, you just change the aperture or change the lens its self

Dan, do you like using the 85mm or the 50mm better?

@ofstephen Well it all depends on what im shooting. As all these lenses are prime lenses, i can not zoom so i have to hot swap them depending on the shot. I usually start with the 50mm Its a good all rounder

I shoot mostly action sports and was wondering if you have the letus mini, does that mean that you can only use it for shallow depth or do the lenses change it? Whats a good lens for action sports? @ofstephen Well its like shooting film with prime lenses. Once the lens is on you zoom with your feet.

When setting up the letus you use the camera zoom to zoom onto the ground glass after this, you dont touch it again.

All the other controls are done on the prime lens ie, focus and exposure.

I cant imagine shooting sport would be that easy with the letus as you are pretty restricted with lenses. Its all about foreground and background when shooting this way.

can you recomend a good, resonably priced external LCD monitor for the JVC GY HM100? I've got a Handy 35 adapter. I need an LCD monitor to flip upside down to flip the image back right side up.

Hi, your video is very very inspiring and also very frustrating in my part. I got the same camera and the letus extreme. I've been shooting some footage but I'm not getting any good quality from it. not even half of what you have here. Could you please share some basic settings you are using? lens, camera set-up etc. thanks a load.

Thanks Dave for your kind words. This particular video was all shot with a canon 50mm 1.4 prime lens. Looks great wide open.

My other few videos used a variety of prime lenses such as:

50mm

85mm

24mm

130mm

This range of lenses seemed to cover me for every occasion.
