UMass Lowell physical therapy doctorate student Laura Donigian presents a case study that her research group conducted to determine the association between changes in psychological and physiological biomarkers of stress and performance in a track athlete during a non-competitive and competitive season. The study was performed using one subject who submitted weekly saliva samples for the measurement of cortisol and perceived stress via completion of the Recovery-Stress Questionnaire (RESTQ-52, Kellman and Kallus, 2001). A future study would include a larger number of subjects competing in a variety of sports. See also: http://www.uml.edu/research
