By request, riding the main elevator in Park Plaza Mall. In 1990, Park Plaza added a 3rd level, a glass roof and two Montgomery glass elevators. The glass elevators had Innovation fixtures, both inground hydraulic. The elevators and shaft were removed in 2005 for the malls 2nd renovation. The shaft was remade and made one big elevator. Note: For those who saying it's Schindler, Schindler did the controls but Kone did the cab and currently does the maintence work (I was there when this elevator was put together and when the elevator was out of order).

~Elevator #6212 Info~

Brand: Kone (with Schindler controls)
Type: Roped Hydraulic
Capacity: 12000 LBS
Speed: 150 FPM
No. Of Floors: 3
Years Installed: 1989 and 2006

  • Yes, and I could tell, because it sounds very much like a Montgomery power unit.

  • The only kind of peo

  • the fixtures are Innovation. That is definitely a KONE elevator...

  • Yes, I think so, and I like your nickname, but still I like mine better.

  • @CaptainElevator42189 I also had another name: "SchinKone"

  • Maybe a nickname for this elevator should be MontgomerySchindler, just like MontgomeryKone.

  • Probably because they couldn't find the time or money to take down the shaft after the demolision. The shaft did stay up for like a couple months after the demolishion. Since that elevator was an Otis, Otis had to remove the elevator before the demolishion.

  • Question that someone maybe able to answer, when they were demolishing University mall, I noticed that the elevator that was in the concourse was still standing for awhile. Later that boarded up what seem to be the shaft as if they were going to use it in the future. Anyone know why they did that?

  • I think they should've kept it at two elevators because this is a really busy mall. During Christmas time, it took about 8 minutes for this elevator to come. Now McCain Mall needs an elevator in their mall instead of going to Dillard's or JC Penney.

  • I always thought the two glass elevators were neat when I was younger. Don't why they would replace them in order to have one huge closed in elevator. Make people have to wait longer for an elevator.

  • New York Hall of Science. Almost identical to this one, with a working door close button. And may I remind you that it is a Schindler. THAT IS NOT ALWAYS TRUE!!!!!

  • Kone does maintain it. Normally on Schindler's the door close don't work. The door close button works on this elevator.

  • So I think Schindler installed it and KONE maintains it.

  • Yeah I know as far as the controller and arrow is Schindler's but the cab Kone did. And now Kone does the maintence (I go to this mall 3 or 4 times a week).

  • @LittleRockElevators That is a Schindler arrow and a Schindler controller.

  • Kone installed it but Schindler did do some of the other stuff. I was there when this elevator was installed and also talked to one of the techs. I remember seeing the Kone shirt on him. The mall had Montgomery glass elevators and Kone (and Montgomery) has been good to them. Therefore the management wanted Kone to do the new elevator.

  • SCHINDLER, NOT KONE.
