My Parents Sent Me To An Ex-Gay Therapist

When Jeff Williamson of Denver came out to his parents a year ago they sent him to see a Christian counselor whom they had been referred to through Focus On The Family. Jeff, who knew there's nothing wrong with being gay, researched the ex-gay movement and pro-gay theology before his appointment, during which he determined that would be his last session. Jeff's story is presented as a triumphant model for all too many youth who are sent, by their parents, against their will to ex-gay programs. Jeff would like to add that today, he has never had a better relationship with his parents and they have accepted his sexual orientation, and are extremely supportive of him.

Homosexuality is perfectly natural and is reflected so throughout nature in abundance. Religion tries to portray everything as sinful and blasphemous, while justifying its arrogance, lies, and bigotry. If there is a creator (and nobody can say there is or is not, to say otherwise is pompous), he most certainly isnt the psychopathic maniac depicted in religious texts. Be proud of being gay. Its who you are. Who cares who likes it or not? At the end of the day can you say you are truly free?

My mom and dad are paranoid with me being around guys... My mom is always believing this new crap that they say it's demons in ppls body's ugh this has gotten out of hand I can't see my boyfriend cuz my mom is always trying to know everything I do I hate it even when I got a rabbit plush she complained it had pink color in its ear and claimed its for girls I'm tired if this she knows nothing about me she always says she wants to change how I think.....

Ugh this is why I despise religion. Bible bashing morons pick and choose which parts of the Bible they want to preach. Doesn't the Bible also also say children who disobey their parents should be killed? Also, these ignorant fools seem to forget that homosexuality occurs in over 1,500 species of animal around the world, including humans. You are born gay, and if God is perfect and males no mistakes and creates everyone in His image, then that means homosexuals are intended.

@selious04 Actually DID is strongly questioned by science. Most psychologist has agreed that such a diagnosis does not exist. Is your view of homosexuality the same as it is regarding transgendered people? If it is, you're in for a treat!

It's sad that your parents didn't accept you right off.

I went through a similar experience but rather then rather then go to a counselor I left the house and ended up moving in with friends rather then stay in that situation.

I really enjoyed hearing your story. I think you helped a lot of people who have or are going through these situations.

It's fantastic that things worked out for you and your parents.
