  • The skipper of the power boat needs to have his ticket revoked,Getting in front of a racing yacht in sydney harbour shows he has very little common sense which is a large part of operating vessels in close quarters situations!

  • col regs my ass and overtaking boat is crap.. that powerboat should have known better. the idiot driving should have been paying attention since he was in the way of one of the biggest races of the year.

  • Boats owned by rich old bastards....skippered by men who dont want to be with their family at xmas.

  • The skipper of the Super Maxi Ettihad was charged with 3 different charges including not giving way to the boat it was overtaking. That pretty much says it all.

The boat that was hit "A-Team" was an official media boat with race officials on board. They told the skipper not to change course because they were supposed to be there and ettihad and every other sailing boat knew to keep clear of the media boats because they were briefed on where the media boats would be and when. 100% Ettihads fault

  • what dickheads

  • Colregs bedamned. If you're a media boat covering a sailing race it is more than your duty to stand clear. Yes the race boat was overtaking. But the media boat failed miserably at taking all necessary actions to prevent a collision as well.

And its not exactly bloody rocket science. Boat goes gets to turning mark, bears away and picks up speed towards the next mark. STAY CLEAR.

  • I suggest you re-read colregs. Power vs. sail doesn't come into it, overtaking vessel shall keep clear.

  • @TheDeathbysnoosnoo

surprised it didn't break there and then. Bent heaps, and the opposite way it is made to!

  • "they rammed the stern of that boat?" serious? try col regs (power vs sail) and NSW state government exclusion zones to avoid situations like that. Major Channel 10 FAIL. was it an official boat? redress if the prod breaks later in the race?
