  • The historian experts were surprised. The family managed to put up a nasty-enough fight to actually force the Romans to commit their reserves. They didn't point that out to the family in the end.

  • Thanks for uploading.Really Liked.

  • DAMN that historian was harsh lol

  • nice family i think aryeh could have cut them a little slack it was a hard battle to win with no specialist troops other than the chariots and at close quarters hd no chance. he alluded that they should have stuck to hit and run tactics but romans had penetrated too far north

  • @chillout010 if you have Rome Total War, can u post a video of this battle from the Roman's perspectives

  • This seems a bit harsh; giving the amateurs an apparently unwinnable battle. They did a lot of things right, but they should have kept their forces more concentrated in the centre to allow their numerical superiority to envelop the roman legions.

  • I would have loved to see an episode where Nusbacher, David, Loades etc were the Generals and Lieutenants fighting on the side of a famous defeat, just to see if they could have changed history :-)

  • One of the better episodes. The family was good - they communicated well and their handling of the battle wasn't bad for amateurs.

I haven't read Tacitus in a while, and it's quite surprising to know how one-sided the battle was. To think that the Roman troops weren't even involved showed how their influenced had seeped well into their barbarian troops.

  • in the real battle ( ad 84 ) the ROMANS cut them to pieces, they were the masters of close quarter fighting and their sword the famous gladius was perfect for close quarter battle, the picts that survived were the ones who managed to run away .

  • a true roman general would have seen that as a defeat cuz he had to get his reserve forces to help out and win so a loss in a romans eyes

  • I have seen far worse teams win its a shame, I think the lost of the chariots early was a heavy blow they could have messed up the legions hard

also they had massive numerical superiority but I think they failed to have local superiority most of the time being out matched man for man they needed it bad

  • they failed...and calgacus did survive i heard
