Winchester introduced a new 410 load designed for the Taurus Judge revolvers. The personal defense load uses 12 pellets of plated BB shot and three plated "Defense Disk" projectiles in a 2 1/2" shell. The animation shows the patterning of this load. • @Timexpression being a firearms officer at a range doesn't really mean much. I've heard firearms instructors that thought a .22lr couldn't penetrate a winter jacket and a thick shirt, much less kill. and how was it a silly comment, he was saying it couldn't be lethal past 7 yards, so with his "intelligence" he should stand 10 yards away and be perfectly fine. this ammo isn't for a hostage situation and neither is the 12gauge you mentioned in your removed comment.

  • @hilers72652 That was a silly comment, I am a firearms officer at a local range, an that kinda foolish behaviour causes accidental death or injury with firearms. My advice to males or females looking for a weapon of close range self defense. 38 S&W snub nose loaded with hollow points and practice down at your local range double tap shooting to take down a hostile (1st shot middle chest quick aim slows them down. 2nd shot in the head slower aim finish them off if they're still a threat)

  • I think this stuff spreads out to fast. If winchester would loose the BB's and just add another one of those plate/disk things this load would be perfect.

  • @skywayghost929 I don't know of any pd story of a shooter who, if he had placed his shot just a foot away more to the left or to the right, would have taken out an innocent bystander. if a self-defense situation includes innocents right behind your target, you shouldn't be shooting at all...

  • Have put about 200 rounds thru my judge. The 45LC PDX from Winchester shoots a good group out to 20 ft. The 410 PDX pellets hold a tight group out to 15 ft. You can consistently hit a pie plate out to 20ft which is what a self defense weapon is designed for! If I want to group out to 50yds I pull out my Ruger 44 Superblackhawk! This gun is perfect for it's application! Also the pellets shot thru a new steel barrel at 20 feet so unless my attacker has on Kevlar or is tougher than steel I feel j

  • Most self defense occurs at about 5 yards, you are shooting to save your life, Its the last damn thing you want to do is shoot someone and 98% of self defense situations happen at under 20 feet. So the judge does what it was designed to do. Defend the life of the shooter.

  • the judge is irresponsibility at its finest... you better pray that you have to use this at close range and not have to use it at more than 5 yrds... 16" spread at 5 yrds... gimme a break... you are resposible for everything those rounds touch... think about it

  • The Judge is nothing but hype. I am glad I sold mine for what i paid for it. Inaccurate and mediocre penetration beyond 5 yards. Fun to shoot though.

  • @Timexpression okay, then you stand if front of it.

  • that's a pretty tight pattern if yer tryin' to hit a barn door from 7 yards away. Looks a pretty dangerous round to me, but not in the scary lethal sense, in the personal safety and accidental wounding sense!
