What could be better than a post-supper music jam out on the deck? Despite the American flag waving behind me, and my friend's american flag guitar strap, this video was filmed at our home in Vännäs kommun in Sweden (the Swedish flag is above the American one and therfore out of sight). I'm the one playing the hammered dulcimer, and I blame my less-than-perfect-playing on the wine I drank with dinner!

  • Peggy, Small world isn't it ?

  • @Bobtheclogger - It sure is!

  • Michigan leads the world in hammered dulcimer playing.

  • @Bobtheclogger Yup.. I know that's true because I come from Michigan! I've actually seen you at clogging workshops around Michigan and in Windsor, Canada. I've even attended your own workshops a few times! Before moving to Sweden, I belonged to Celery City Cloggers (Kalamazoo) for about 10 years, and then I switched to Gull Creek Cloggers (Battle Creek) for about 6 years.

  • @jpachter1 Good one!

  • @Peggy91193

    Thank you, quite intresting

  • @Peggy91193 How canyou tell when a banjo player is at your door?

The knocking keeps getting faster and faster, he can never find the key, and he has no idea when to come in.

    ;-)

  • @jpachter1 Thanks! Yes, it was a bit too fast, but just try to get a banjo player to slow down and you'll see that it's pretty much impossible! The H.D. is pretty popular among folk musicians in my home state of Michigan.

  • @jorgecubria Thanks... I'll tell the banjo player you liked his pickin'! That weird-looking instrument is my hammered dulcimer.

  • Nice picking.

What's the name of that instrument that resembles a xilophone?
