Thumbs up if you think that train is very fast!!

That train was going very fast. If they replaced the wig-wags with gates and lights, did they put up a sign saying, "High Speed Trains"?

Shows the power of one Locomotive !! is said if a pickup or car had the same drive system ,,instead of 300 miles on a tank of gas would be in the 2,500 mile range on the same tank of gas

Nice video. Are there any other places in Wisconsin that still have wig wags? Appleton once had a ton.

@ma7799 There are two sets in Sheboygan, three signals in Plymouth, one in Avoca, and one east of Marshall. There are also sets of them at Dane, Baraboo, and Devils Lake. The ones at Dane and Devils Lake are going to be replaced in the very near future, if they haven't been already. I'm not sure about the ones in Baraboo. I've seen a picture of a crossing in Appleton that once had a total of six wig-wags. The Chicago & Northwestern used them quite a bit on their lines.

I didnt know RR still used Wig Wag signals

@starguard They haven't been legal for new installations for quite a few years now. There are still some out there though, having not been removed in favor of newer signals. The wig-wags in this video have since been taken out and replaced by a set of standard lights and gates.

Do the 3 light block signals go back as far as the wig-wags? Or are they something newer like the RoadRailer train?

@Petemonster62 I'm really not sure. I seem to recall reading that these wig-wags were installed in 1950, so there is a very good possibility they were put in around that time as well. They were removed a few years back when the wig-wags were taken out and replaced with flashing lights and gates. There is now a single mast, double head, three-light signal with "darth vader" hoods there.
