Here's how it's shown properly.
Gundam Seed, THEN Fafner in the Azure, THEN Destiny.
Kazuki, the main character of Fafner, does NOT look like Shinn.
Shinn looks like him, it's the other way around.
All the Destiny designs and characters, come from Fafner.
That is why Destiny went down the hill, along with some fuckups in the script, bringing Kira Yamato back to life.

can't forget that girl who was in the tube for like the first half of the series (Can't remember her name only made it to ep 17 like a year ago) looks like a fusion of Fllay and Luna... well to me she does anyway

Fafner in the Azure is an anime. The artists who did Gundam SEED/SEED Destiny also did Fafner ^^
