  • 1GB, 2GB and 4GB modules in matching sets of three (or multiples thereof) will not give you 16GB. They must be running in dual channel mode (e.g. 2x2x4GB or 2x4x2GB).

  • The nehalem chips are twice as fast as the last generation chips. The architecture is slightly different. The changes made mean that the CPU's are twice as fast as the last Generation. So a Nahelam chip that is 2.2Ghz is actually something like 4.5Ghz when compared to the last gen. These chip will be best utilised in a server that is to be virtualised. Virtualising is what almost all enterpirses are doing right now.

  • hahahaha

  • looks like penryn in single thread even tho they get clock overclock in single thread from stock. hardly any gain. only gain cus of more threads.

workstation/server cpu, desktop wolfdale and kentsfield still is better.

  • People who buy these platforms don't do it for gaming. They do it for data computation, eventually GPUs and CPUs will be one but thats far away from now, GPU is far more important than CPU for games, don't diss

  • i consider this Nehalem cpu, pointless in games. the mighty Crysis wont even use 4 cores today.

  • After Skynet is up, but that happens AFTER Intel's 11nm chip.

  • 16GBDDR3? holy hell.

  • Anandtech benched an engineering sample of Nehalem and it's quite fast. It owns the hell out of the 45nm Core 2 chips.

  • the nehalem utilize the tri-channel of ddr3...that's why 16gb of ram
