My hero, Mr. Charlton Heston. "From my cold dead hands"

THE SECOND AMENDMENT VINDICATED!

The Court said; "'The people' . . . unambiguously refers to all members of the political community" and "The very text of the Second Amendment implicitly recognizes the pre-existence of the right and declares only that it 'shall not be infringed.'"
-United States Supreme Court

Obama gun facts; http://www.gunbanobama.com/

Charlton Heston's closing remarks at the 2000 NRA annual meeting in Charlotte North Carolina. He was a very fine American. Those five words; From MY Cold Dead Hands.

This man was a true Patriot. Freedom of the individual. Governments derive their just power from the governed (the people). People should not fear their government, their government should fear the people.

He believed in personal freedom so much that he gave the last good years of his life to freedoms cause. He was basically spat on by the not so far left, and ridiculed by the left. He definitely served his country well.

Back during this speech the NRA was having internal conflicts about how to fight those who would take our liberties away. Some were of the notion that we had to be bold and radical in defending our rights no matter who we offended, while others wanted a more balanced approach that didn't alienate the average gun owner. Mr Heston gave to us the last good years of his life bringing the NRA back together and making it the force for freedom that it is today, and I thank him for that. He served his country well.

High court strikes down gun ban.

District of Columbia v. Heller

Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Antonin Gregory Scalia

"Undoubtedly some think that the Second Amendment is outmoded in a society where our standing army is the pride of our nation, where well-trained police forces provide personal security and where gun violence is a serious problem," Scalia wrote. "That is perhaps debatable, but what is not debatable is that it is not the role of this court to pronounce the Second Amendment extinct."

Mr Heston:

"Every time our country stands in the path of danger, an instinct seems to summon her finest first — those who truly understand her.
"When freedom shivers in the cold shadow of true peril, it's always the patriots who first hear the call.
"When loss of liberty is looming, as it is now, the siren sounds first in the hearts of freedom's vanguard. The smoke in the air of our Concord bridges and Pearl Harbors is always smelled first by the farmers, who come from their simple homes to find the fire, and fight, because they know that sacred stuff resides in that wooden stock and blued steel -- something that gives the most common man the most uncommon of freedoms.
"When ordinary hands can possess such an extraordinary instrument, that symbolizes the full measure of human dignity and liberty. That's why those five words issue an irresistible call to us all, and we muster. So -- so, as, ah, we set out this year to defeat the divisive forces that would take freedom away, I want to say those fighting words for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed -- and especially for you, Mister Gore: From my cold dead hands!"

Charlton Heston (born John Charles Carter; October 4, 1923 -- April 5, 2008) was an American actor of film, theater and television. Heston is known for having played heroic roles, such as Moses in The Ten Commandments, Colonel George Taylor in Planet of the Apes and Judah Ben-Hur in Ben-Hur, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor. He was one of a handful of Hollywood actors to speak openly against racism and was an active supporter of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. Initially a liberal Democrat, he later supported conservative politics and was president of the National Rifle Association from 1998 to 2003.

Heston campaigned for Presidential candidate Adlai Stevenson in 1956 and John F. Kennedy in 1960. Reportedly when an Oklahoma movie theater premiering his movie El Cid was segregated, he joined a picket line outside in 1961. Heston makes no reference to this in his autobiography, but describes traveling to Oklahoma City to picket segregated restaurants, much to the chagrin of Allied Artists, the producers of El Cid. During the civil rights march held in Washington, D.C. in 1963, he accompanied Martin Luther King Jr. In later speeches, Heston said he helped the civil rights cause, "long before Hollywood found it fashionable."

England and later the United Kingdom had a Bill of Rights once in 1688 that America based it's constiution on. Don't let the ruling class both Right-wing or Left-wing alike take it away like in Britain.

Who needs a Bill of Rights in this day and age? And why do we need our government's hands tied with a constitution? These are modern times free of tyrants. This is not the 18th century. We elect our representatives, so how could they ever cause us harm? Leaders of this new age only have in their hearts the betterment of those they serve. If you did not notice, the nature of man has changed, as man has no ambition to rule over man. These are modern times, wait, I already said that....

"They were normal people that lived in different times". Answer me this, has the nature of man changed since our founders time? Of course it has not. Man still wants to rule over man. What will stop this? An armed populous will stop it. As for your completely stupid remark about the KKK, do you know how many of our founders abhorred even the thought of slavery? So your "Nuff said" is most likely the most ignorant thing I've ever heard.

Who put the gun in his hand, and SET THE EXAMPLE? You hick idiot: show me a civilised country in which shootings such these are engendered by their own. Hell, you dick-heads ought to be classified Potential Terrorists - every last one of you. While the civilised world looks on in shock, pain and contempt as you shoot each other's children to death. Then the civilised world shall revoke your immature 'declaration of independence'.

...And where does your mindset end? Total anarchy, because you don't believe in your police nor your government? Communistic, No...Don't put words in my mouth, although communism is theoretically a good idea but because of greed, not realistic! The same goes with every other agenda! It's always the balance that we have issues with!

That may be true, but I will never advocate for the forced confiscation of lawfully owned & acquired property.

    CON'T...

Additionally, the crux of the debate here is really a private property issue.

Your attitude & your allies attitude is quite Communist in nature. You want rule & regulate private property ownership and transfer. You want to crush free market forces. You want outright steal lawfully owned property.

Where does this mindset end? Every single car on the road is a rolling bomb/high explosive. Should we seize and criminalize the owners of cars? Make instant felons out of them?

Zero background checks? What planet are you on? The only time you can buy a gun in America without a background check is at a gun show in CERTAIN states, or a C&R gun (rifle only in some states) which stands for "Curio & Relic" which means that it has to be 50 years old or older, and sometimes on an approved list.

Please stop spamming the comments section with your ignorance and disinformation. Thanks.

I guess he won't admit that our modern "masters" are the worst slave drivers in recorded history.

Almost down to a man, we are wage/debt slaves. We have to pay for our own housing. We have to pay for our own medical treatment. We have to pay for our own clothes. The list is endless. Slaves of the past (not just America) didn't pay for anything. Not trying to trivialize it, just tweaking the perspective.

Are you aware that Jefferson's original draft of the Declaration of Independence was reduced by nearly 25%?

The delegates from a few Southern states didn't like it (mainly Georgia). Why? Because Jefferson went so far as to declare the slaves free as well. The Founders were NOT all on the same page. Just about everything that they proposed was EXTREMELY radical. Have you ever thought about that?

This should be evident from the Federalists vs. Anti-Federalists alone.
