This is a low tempo rhythmic composition known as Pishdaramd in Persian classical music played on santoor by Pooyan Nassehpoor http://www.santoori.com and accompanied on tonbak by Peyman Nasehpour http://nasehpour.tripod.com/peyman
The mode is in Dastgah Nava (very old modal system of Persian music). This video clip is a part of the concert of Nassehpoor Ensemble in February 2002 in Iranian Artist Forum (Khaneh ye Honarmandan).
Similar hammaered-dulcimer instruments: yang chin (China), Santoor (India, Iraq, Egypt), Hackbrett (Germany), Santoori (Greece), Cimbalom (Hungaria) and so on...
Similar goblet drums: darbuka, darbouka, doumbelek, dumbek, doumbek and zirbaghali.
Classic very nicely done!

Is this Dastgah Nava original or improvised?
I'm looking for all of the Dasgah performed in their original form, rather than an improvised version.
Thanks!
