actually he is alive, in the original episode, the cart-driver did the signature Lelouch smirk after C.C said "Isn't that right,Lelouch", the writers took out that scene so that the fans would imagine their own ending..and yes the magazines said that Lelouch is dead and that is true. It is true because Lelouch was impaled my suzaku, but Lelouch is now immortal, the life he had before his immortality is over, he is no longer  the same "Lelouch" because "lelouch" represents his other life.

I think Lelouch is alive. He technically killed Charles in that big confrontation, and if you all remember correctly, a person who has obtained the Code has to die before it activates. Hence, Lulu's eyes when Suzero impales him. Remember, his Geass was completely activated when he killed his Daddy~?

it isnt r3, its a new anime entirely in a new era with a new main character, its just in the same world. you saw lelouch because he is immortal and hence still alive, with c.c. who is also shown

@mattcivic1212 actually there will be a code geass r3 its already been announced in japan and Lelouch is alive I know this because there is a screen shot of him in r3 also more proof he is immortal remember when C.C. touched suzaku in r1? she sent him memories the same happened when Lelouch was touched by Nunnaly in the end of r2
